Short version

Pink Tide takes one-shot, foreground-only location fix when you tap the capture button, asks Apple WeatherKit for the current conditions at that point, and uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to write an eight-line poem from the weather. The weather snapshot (temperature, condition, precipitation, humidity, wind) plus the poem and the coordinates that produced them are saved on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs that contact a server we operate. The only network calls the app makes are to Apple WeatherKit and to Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases.

Who we are

Pink Tide is published by Danielius Studio LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company at 30 N Gould St, Suite #5280, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA (“we”, “us”).

Data we do NOT collect

Location permission (foreground only)

Pink Tide requests “When In Use” location access (the NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescriptionpermission) so that one CoreLocation fix can be taken when you tap the capture button. The fix is a one-shot read: the app does not subscribe to location updates, does not use significant-location-change monitoring, and never runs in the background.

The coordinates from that fix are used for two things only: (1) to query Apple WeatherKit for the current conditions at that point, and (2) to save alongside the tide entry on your device so the poem can show the place it came from. The coordinates are NOT transmitted to a server we operate, NOT shared with any third party other than Apple WeatherKit for the weather query, and NOT exposed via any social or sharing feature.

WeatherKit (Apple weather service)

Pink Tide calls Apple WeatherKit with the coordinates from the one-shot fix to receive the current temperature, condition, precipitation, humidity, and wind. WeatherKit queries are handled by Apple under Apple's WeatherKit terms. We do not see your weather query history beyond the response for the tide you are currently writing, and we do not retain your queries on any server we operate.

What stays on your device

All of the above lives on your device and never leaves it. Uninstalling the app deletes everything Pink Tide has stored.

On-device language model (Apple Intelligence)

The eight-line weather poem is generated by Apple's on-device Foundation Models, accessed through the public LanguageModelSession API on iOS 26. The model executes on your iPhone's Neural Engine. The weather snapshot from WeatherKit is passed to the model in-process and never leaves the device. Pink Tide does not use Apple's Private Cloud Compute fallback for this feature.

Poem generation is available only on Apple Intelligence-capable devices running iOS 26 (iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, or newer with the A17 Pro chip or later). On unsupported devices the tide still saves with the weather snapshot and coordinates, but the poem step is skipped.

Year book of poems

Pink Tide Pro renders a printable year book of your 365 weather poems. The book is composed on-device from the entries you already have. Nothing about your year is uploaded to a server we operate.

Lock Screen widget

Pink Tide Pro includes a Lock Screen widget that shows today's tide count. The widget reads only the count and the timestamp of the most recent entry from an App Group container on your device. No coordinates or weather details are rendered on the Lock Screen and nothing is sent off the device for the widget to function.

In-app purchases

If you choose to subscribe (Monthly, Annual) or buy the Lifetime unlock, that transaction is handled by Apple's StoreKit. Apple processes the payment and shares only the receipt with the app so we can verify your entitlement. We never see your card number, billing address, or any personal information beyond Apple's opaque transaction identifier.

Subscription receipts are stored on-device by iOS and used to validate your entitlement when you re-open the app. They are not sent to any server we operate.

Family Sharing

Pink Tide Pro purchases (Monthly, Annual, Lifetime) are Family-Shareable through Apple's standard Family Sharing mechanism. Apple handles eligibility checks; we do not see who is in your family group.

Children

Pink Tide is rated 4+ in the App Store. Because the app collects no data at all on our side, it complies with COPPA and similar children's-privacy regulations by design.

Your rights

Because Pink Tide does not collect data on our side, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or delete on your behalf. To revoke location permission, use iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Pink Tide. To remove all on-device state, delete the app.

Changes

If we ever introduce a feature that involves any data leaving the device to a server we operate (for example, cloud sync or sharing), this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date at the top will change. For v1.0, no such feature exists.
