Pink Roost
A one-tap wildlife sighting log.
Spot a bird or an animal. Tap the capture button. Snap a photo, type the species (or “unknown”), save. Pink Roost attaches your coordinates automatically. You get a species list with counts and a map of where each sighting happened. Photos and coordinates stay on your device.
How it works
- Tap the capture button on the Home screen.
- Snap a photo of what you spotted. Camera permission required.
- Type the species name, or “unknown”, and an optional note.
- Tap Save. Pink Roost reads your location once when the capture screen opens and attaches latitude, longitude, and accuracy to the sighting. Location is optional; sightings save without it if you decline.
- Open the species list for every species you logged with counts, or the sighting map for every spot you logged.
What stays on your device
- No accounts, no email, no signup.
- No analytics, no third-party SDKs.
- Photos are compressed to JPEG and stored in on-device SwiftData with
@Attribute(.externalStorage). They do NOT save to your iCloud Photo Library. - Location is read once each time you open the capture screen. Pink Roost never polls in the background.
- The only network calls are to Apple's StoreKit when you choose to subscribe or buy Lifetime, and to Apple Maps, which loads the map on the sighting map screen.
Pricing
Everything is unlocked for your first three days. After that, you can keep up to three sightings in total, and Pro unlocks unlimited sightings:
- Pro Monthly: $4 / month.
- Pro Annual: $25 / year.
- Pro Lifetime: $59 one-time.
All purchases are handled by Apple and managed under your Apple ID. Pro is Family-Shareable through Apple's standard Family Sharing.
Respect wildlife
Pink Roost is a personal log, not a survey tool. Do not harass, bait, or chase animals to get a photo, and do not enter protected or private land without permission. Local and federal wildlife laws apply to your conduct in the field.

To restore a purchase on a new device, open Pink Roost, open the paywall from Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. Apple will re-verify your Apple ID's entitlements.
To cancel an auto-renewing subscription, open the Settings app on iPhone, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then Pink Roost Pro.
