Pink Qibla
Prayer times and the qibla, worked out on your iPhone.
Pink Qibla works out your five daily prayer times and the direction of the Kaaba on your iPhone, from the date, where you are and the position of the sun. It counts down to the next prayer, lets you choose the convention and Asr school you follow, and points a compass at the Kaaba. The calculation itself needs no internet connection.
How it works
- Open Pink Qibla and allow location when iOS asks, then swipe through the intro and tap Begin.
- The home screen counts down to the next prayer and lists today's times for Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. Far north or south, when the sun never gets low enough for Fajr or Isha, that time shows a dash instead of a guess.
- Tap any prayer to see its time, how long until it or how long ago it was, how long its window runs, and the week ahead, with how far the time moves from today.
- Tap the line under the times that names your convention, or the sliders icon at the top, to open Calculation. Choose Standard or Hanafi for Asr, and one of seven conventions for Fajr and Isha, such as Muslim World League, ISNA or Umm al-Qura. Each option shows the times it gives today.
- Tap the moon and stars icon at the top to open Qibla, with the bearing from true north and the distance to the Kaaba. The needle keeps pointing to it as you turn your iPhone.
What stays on your device
- No accounts, no email, no signup.
- No analytics, no third-party SDKs.
- Your location is used to calculate your prayer times and the direction of the Kaaba, and your compass heading to turn the needle. Neither is saved.
- Each time it starts, Pink Qibla sends your location to Apple once, to look up your place name and time zone. Offline, it uses your iPhone's time zone and calculates the times the same way.
- Your calculation choices are saved on your iPhone.
- Apart from that lookup, the only network calls are to Apple's StoreKit, for purchases.
