Spaghetti, slow chili and a mountain of shredded cheddar. The one everybody starts with.

Two steamed buns, two franks and one generous ladle. Napkins are on the counter.

Chili by the bowl with onions and beans on the side. Crackers always included.

A baked potato split open, ladled over and buried under cheddar.

Chili and eggs over toast, served until two on Saturday and Sunday.
Build a bowl

Spaghetti first, then a ladle of chili, then cheddar piled until it falls over. Ask for onions or beans and the name goes up a ladle.

Our story
In 1962 Nell Ladleworth opened a six-stool counter with a single pot on the back burner. She never let it run empty, and she ladled every bowl herself until the line reached the corner.
Sixty years and eleven parlours later the pot is bigger and the ladle is the same one. So is the rule: nobody leaves without crackers.
The family, the dates and the parlours are fictional.
